Fanboy vs Artboy III - Science Fiction. The Human Race has had its fair share of ups and downs whenever we have tried to boldly go where no man has gone before or wanting to bring balance to the force. In taking our 'one small step for man', we seemed to have trodden on many a toe. One minute we are playing peacekeepers to warring planets only then to defend ourselves from constant invasions. We have marvelled in the fact that we have created artificial intelligence only to be turned into a food source for them. We discovered new lifeforms in galaxies far far away just to being hunted down and rounded up like animals by them. As a great President once asked: "Little people, why can't we all just get along?" They may come in peace, but we know by now that they shoot to kill! The time has come once again to fight for our planet and defend our way of life.

Now in its third year, ‘For Art’s Sake’ is an exciting and thoroughly enjoyable annual fundraising initiative that believes all people have unique and inspired contributions to make towards Sydney’s creative community. It promotes art as an expression that transcends age, culture, physical and intellectual disability, and in doing so, provides an equal and legitimate platform by which artists of all abilities can exhibit their works without the stigma associated with their perceived limitations. Over 400 artworks have been contributed, and all artists names are anonymous until purchased. This anominity means each piece is judged on it's artistic merit. All works start at $65, no matter the artist. Last year, this included works by artists such as Mambos Reg Mombasa, Lindy Lee, Jenny Orchard, and Archibald Prize winner Euan Macleod.

Medium: Vinyl is an annual event at Hardware Gallery which sees artists using vinyl records as the basis for their artwork. Besides being a celebration of the vinyl record, it is a fun and vibrant exhibition that pushes artists slightly away from their normal practice, sometimes simply by working with a round starting point. The artists have become increasingly adventurous with each show - one reason why it has proven to be amoung the most popular shows in Sydney. Local, international, youth. emerging and established artists directly interact with the medium and theme, creating unique and innovative art. As the medium is a modern icon, an antique and a collectable, an object to be recycled and a piece of art itself there are many considerations for the artist to respond to, visually and symbolically. Opening night music by Dean Dixon and Dave Fernandes - HAHA Industries.

In my solo show "Wallflower", I explore the psyche and the question of what makes us who we are. Is it what we do, the stories we tell, our religion, culture, what we eat? Opening night will have live music, wild hibiscus flowers in champagne, an origami flower installation,
an artist interview, and a bunch of new works on the walls. Hope to see you there!
